sanctity-of-life-picRanting and raving. Fussing and fuming. Call it what you want. But here I go again. I cannot sit idly and silently while every 20 seconds an innocent baby is killed within his or her mother’s womb.

This Sunday, January 17, has been designated as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Churches across our land will 1.) acknowledge God’s gift of life, 2.) pledge to defend life, and 3.) commemorate those lives lost through abortion. Some churches make the value of human life a prominent theme throughout this upcoming day of worship, and some churches do not.

I will be speaking at Maplewood Baptist Church, Paris, during the morning worship services. I am honored to speak on behalf of the unborn, but I’m also humbled by the seriousness of the task. Much of my presentation will feature Scripture that recognizes the value of life and God’s love for the unborn; however, at some point, I hope that God (through me) will challenge the fellowship – each of us – to proactively defend life.

In this post, I want to offer 8 strategies that you and I need to implement if we are going to act upon our pro-life convictions. My friend, we must take action. We must …

1.) Stay informed. Hosea 4:6 states, “My people perish for a lack of knowledge.”

2.) Vote for life.

  1. Promote sexual purity in our homes and churches.
  2. Extend forgiveness to those who have not chosen life.
  3. Pray fervently for God to graciously give our country time to repent.
  4. Speak out. “Raise your voice like a trumpet, …” Isaiah 58:1
  5. Support organizations that promote life, and
  6. Share the Gospel with everyone we know.

Are you pro-life? Do you believe human life is sacred? Are you sickened by the national epidemic of abortion that has killed approximately 57,000,000 babies since 1973? Then, we must engage, my friend. I ask you to join me in praying over the above list of actions, and then let us surrender to God and let us get busy defending life in the womb!
